This production is part of GHOSTLIGHT 2020, a series of new programming at Actors’ Rep, focusing on bringing innovative theatre-making to our community.
AN ILIAD is a modern-day retelling of Homer’s classic. Poetry and humor, the ancient tale of the Trojan War and the modern world collide in this captivating theatrical experience. The setting is simple: the empty theater. The time is now: the present moment.
Bio: Emma Sue Harris – Emma Sue Harris (they/them) is an actor/singer/theatre-maker and is the Executive Assistant at Actor’s Rep. Emma benefited from fantastic theatrical training at Actor’s Rep for over a decade, and also studied Musical Theatre at the Conservatory for Theatre Arts at Webster University. In addition to performing in existing plays/musicals, Emma is devoted to creating and developing new theatrical works that challenge structure, push boundaries, and center truth. Currently, Emma is exploring methods that focus on political issues, using Boal’s ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’ as a basis, and exploring devising theatrical works with emphasis on post-modern movement. Emma is a proud member of Haus of Quota, a local queer artists’ collective, as well as a member of Ring of Keys, a national network of queer people working in musical theatre. Some of Emma’s favorite credits include Actually (Amber; Actor’s Rep 2019), Kings (Kate; Actor’s Rep 2019), The Addams Family Musical (Ensemble/Dance Captain; Crest Theatre 2018), and [title of show] (Susan; Webster Conservatory 2017).
