Coffee and Comedy | April 19

April 19 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

- $20

Each Session: $20

Coffee and Comedy is a monthly meet-up where comedy writers of all levels can share their writing and discuss their work in a safe and supportive workshop environment (with coffee, of course).

This workshop is for anyone and everyone who has ever had an idea in the shower and thought, “This is funny. I should write it down.” We welcome all levels of experience because we believe everyone can write and anyone can create comedy.

How it Works: Bring up to 5 single-sided pages of your scripted comedic material (a sketch you wrote, a scene from your screenplay, or even the stand up you’ve been writing out). Print one copy for each character in your script to read, plus one copy for the instructor. You’ll have your script read out loud, then you’ll participate in a healthy (and helpful) feedback session about your work with other fellow writers.

Our goal is for you to leave feeling inspired to write and filled with new ideas. Comedy writing is meant to be shared and discussed, not sitting in a folder on your desktop.

So if you’re ready to beat writer’s block or you’re tired of your mom reading your work and insisting she doesn’t have any notes “Because it’s already perfect, sweetie!”, then we’ve got a cup of coffee with you’re name on it! Also, your mom is great. Don’t forget to call her.

Each session will be capped at 10 participants, so reserve your space online today!

When: Sunday, April 19 | 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Where: Actor’s Rep | 1000 N. Dixie Highway, West Palm Beach, FL 33401

Instructor: Suki Lanh

Suki Lanh is a graduate of Second City Chicago and the Peoples Improv Theater. She has taught courses in screenwriting and sketch comedy at University of Miami, Villain Theater, and Jeff Quintana Performing Arts. Suki got her BA in Theatre Arts at the 2nd most expensive school in Florida and her MFA in Film at the 1st most expensive school in Florida. She currently lives in an endless black hole of student loan debt that has been tastefully decorated to look like a bohemian chic French apothecary. Don’t feel sorry for her, she did this to herself. Before moving to Miami, Suki developed scripts for film, television, and theatre in London and NYC which means she would give notes on how to make these scripts better and then the writers would receive these notes and tell her why she was wrong (but end up taking her notes anyway). When Suki’s not writing funny stuff or teaching funny things, she’s busy making funny voices at her dog Lillian Coppola Van Chicken Wing.
