Intro to Meisner Technique | Feb 12 to Mar 18

February 12 @ 7:00 pm - March 18 @ 9:00 pm

Tuition: $160

Description: The Meisner technique is about authenticity and the ability to “behave truthfully under imaginary circumstances.” The goal is to get actors out of their heads so that they may behave instinctively to their surrounding environment. This class will focus primarily on the repetition exercise, created by Meisner “to do away with words” so that actors might follow their instincts and communicate non-verbally rather than being trapped in their own heads. “If you want to reach every person in the audience, it’s not about being bigger, it’s about going deeper.” – Sanford Meisner

When: Wednesdays 7:00 – 9:00pm Feb. 12 – March 18 (6 weeks)

Where: Actor’s Rep Theatre 1000 N. Dixie Highway, WPB 33401

Instructors: Heather Hilend

Heather Hilend can barely remember a time that story-telling was not her passion! Heather has her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts from Palm Beach Atlantic University. At PBA Heather was trained in Meisner techniques and Uta Hagen’s philosophies, as well as being trained in Shakespearean and other classical acting. Heather also has an extensive background in improvisational theatre. She has continued on with improv, performing regularly performing for 10 years. Watching ideas click in someone’s brain, and figuring out the unique idiosyncrasies of both people she knows and of fictional characters, are the two things that bring her the most joy. Some of Heather’s credits include To the New Girl, Duchess Senior in As You Like It, and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible.
