This Monoscene workshop concentrates on extended play; where to turn when you think you’ve run out of information, milking a scene for all it’s worth, pulling new details, presenting new ideas, revealing truths and playing like the show will never end.
When: Sunday, Oct. 27 12:00 – 4:00pm
Where: Actor’s Rep Theatre 1000 N. Dixie Highway, WPB 33401
Instructor: Susan Glynn
Susan Glynn has been improvising, acting, directing, writing, and coaching in Chicago for nine years. Of all of her accomplishments, she is most proud of performing with Shebeast (a nasty gang of truly terrible women) for the past four years at The Annoyance on Friday nights. She has also performed on House Teams at Second City, with Second City Theatricals aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, on several Harold teams at iO, and, on Trigger Happy at The Annoyance. She co-wrote and directed Grease 3: Even Greasier, A Parody Musical that ran for twenty weeks at The Annoyance Theater and she performs Saturdays at iO Theatre with Your Fucked Up Relationship. If you’re looking for a fun story, ask about her sister’s gender reveal party or “the muffin incident”.
Shebeast Bio: Shebeast is a badass group of women who do not play by your typical rules of improv. They are loud, headstrong, have no filter and focus on outrageous characters and monoscene work. Shebeast will teach you how to trust your gut instincts, play aggressively while still supporting the scene and your fellow players. You will learn the tools to get out of your own way and have some damn fun already!
