Mr. Carter studied for six years with master teachers Lee and Paula Strasberg in their private classes above Carnegie Hall. He also audited the works of Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Robert Lewis, and Herbert Berghof. Bases his teaching on a combination of the master teachers’ work. The Actors’ Workshop started in 1978 and has continued uninterrupted which establishes it as the longest running acting class in South Florida. Designed for the actors of all levels, actors will work on scripted material as well as speech & diction and acting exercises. Assistance will be provided in search for material to work on in class.

This class runs month to month, giving acting students the freedom to study when they have the time or are not cast in a show. Please note: Registering for the next month is necessary to remain in the class after the month is up.

This free on-going weekly improv drop-in is open to BIPOC of all levels. Whether you have no experience at all or have been improvising for years, this improv class is for you. In an effort to grow diversity at our theatre and in the theatre/improv community in general, we are currently only offering this class to Indigenous people, Black people and People of color. (BIPOC.) Improvisers are storytellers and who is telling the stories matters. Despite the best of intentions, the improv scene in the south Florida community is overwhelmingly white and we’re doing our part to change that. Come play! This all levels class is open to everyone! No experience necessary! This monthly improv drop-in takes place the second Saturday of every month! It's a no pressure chance to play! Walk-ups are welcome, but online registration is strongly encouraged.

Acting for the Camera: Adults Pt. 2 | July 13 – Aug 17

This 6-week class for adults will take an in-depth look at the process and skills needed for auditioning for film, TV, and commercials. Students will receive audition sides & cold reads weekly to present in class for feedback. Scenes, monologues, working with a reader and self-tapes will also be covered.

Voice 101 (The Linklater Technique) | July 21 – Sept 8

This class will give actors the tools they need to create a clear and open connection between themselves and their voices. Using a Kristin Linklater based progression, this class will explore breath, alignment, relaxation, resonance, projection, support and vocal health and safety. By the end of this class, you will have a daily warm up and be able to connect with your breath and tap into your true voice for the most effective vocal communication.
