Kathleen Kenny

Kathleen Kenny is the Education Director, an instructor and board member at Actor’s Rep. She started the theatre education program from the bottom up, creating the year round Youth Academy, including 2 summer Youth Conservatory programs, with both a musical and an acting emphasis, training young actors in the many various disciplines of theatre. She also established a successful audition preparation program for students auditioning for the Bak and Dreyfoos schools of the arts.

In addition to creating a theatre education program for children and teens, Kathleen has also established Actor’s Rep as one of the premier training schools in South Florida for long form (scenic) improvisation, creating performance teams who perform monthly at the theatre as well as at other local theatres and Improvisation Fests from Miami to Gainesville. She’s helped to grow the booming improv scene here in South Florida by inviting guest troupes from all over the state to guest in Actors’ Rep improv shows and offers up the theatre to other local not for profit training programs for performances, drop in classes and the first Palm Beach Improv Festival.

Kathleen is passionate about her students and what she does. The quality of training comes first, with the focus being on the process of each actor, rather than on the product. There are many programs and theatres that will give performance opportunities to students, but while Actors’ Rep believes that performing is part of the process, they also believe that learning the skills to our craft must come first. This is true for her as well, which is why she takes as many workshops and classes as she is able so that she can offer the very best to her own students.

Building it’s now successful program a class at a time, Actor’s Rep now offers classes for children, teens and adults in acting, scene study and monologue study, long form & short form improvisation, musical theatre, speech & diction, Shakespeare and Audition Preparation. Kathleen and the dedicated, skilled professionals that make up the Actors’ Rep teaching company often bring in guest artists who specialize in unique areas of theatre such as stage combat, clowning, stage makeup, technical theatre and any other areas of which they do not consider themselves to be an expert. Kathleen believes in offering the students at Actor’s Rep nothing less than the very best. Because theatre changes lives. Because this matters.
